Our Opportunity is Now. West Waukesha Bypass Fight Legal Action Continues!

Posted by WEAL on January 26, 2017 at 7:15 AM
hen we filed our federal lawsuit we launched the most important phase of our fight against the West Waukesha Bypass. We knew it would come to this. The DOT didn't listen to our concerns. They never have and they never will. All the hours we spent at hearings, all the letters and comments that we submitted. The DOT relies on apathy to defeat highway building opponents, like us! They just churn out miles and miles of new highway lanes each year, regardless of who they hurt, regardless of the environmental and social costs! We've got to prove them wrong. We can win this! Your donation today will ensure that we can continue our legal fight against the West Waukesha Bypass By donating, you'll help make it clear to the DOT that our community doesn't need this new mega-highway. Especially given the fact that there are already so many highway alternatives in Waukesha County. Cheaper and safer alternatives are available. We have hired the best attorneys for this fight and your contribution will help ensure that they deliver the best possible legal arguments and spend the time necessary to fight the Bypass on our behalf. Waukesha County Environmental League (WEAL) has created a $10,000 matching fund and we are near our goal of capturing the entire $10,000 match! Supporters like you have already given nearly $9,000. We are so very close to our goal. A few weeks ago our lawyers filed our initial brief with the federal court and this week the DOT filed their brief. We have to keep up the pressure. We have to see this through. Your gift helps ensure that we can continue to do everything we can to stop this highway expansion project! Click here to donate now. We will never have a better opportunity than now to show state DOT and Federal Highway Administration officials that we care about what happens in our communities, that we care for the safety of our children, our health, and our environment. With gratitude, Allen Stasiewski, Coalition Opposed to the West Waukesha Bypass
