Can You Take Bus to Madison Press Conference on Unnecessary Highway Building? Are you Available?
One of our partners, WISPRG, is holding a press conference in Madison on Tuesday October 21st. A bus has been arranged to take us, if we can attend. We would like to have representatives of our Waukesha Bypass fight there. Can you attend?
If you can attend please contact Shannon ASAP by e-mail at smajewski@wi.rr.com.
Here are some details
They can take 3-5 people from our coalition
We have to know who will attend by end of TODAY (Saturday) to get back to him. I’d say 3:30/4:00 to be safe.
There will be no cost for transportation (sounds like it is being funded)
Bus will arrive at pick up location at 8:30am, and depart at 9am (they are inviting media to the departure). Departing from 1862 W. Fond du Lac Road in Milwaukee
The bus should arrive back 1pm or shortly thereafter (11am press conference that lasts 30 minutes, and a 1 hour, 15 minute ride back to Milwaukee)
· The Platform/Agenda: The message is groups all over the state are fighting wasteful and unnecessary highway expansions while other needs are neglected. Basically, “no new highway expansions, no new taxes” The goal is to call on Walker to tell us what he is going to do. But, we want to keep the message on waste and unneeded highways and the fiscal arguments. The environmental arguments won’t help us convince Walker who is our target, so it is broader in scope but we’ll be rigid about having a message that helps us move the campaign forward.
