The San Joaquin Kennel Club
A small club with a big show—and an even bigger heart
At its heart, SJKC is about people who care deeply about dogs—and about doing right by them.

About the San Joaquin Kennel Club
The San Joaquin Kennel Club (SJKC) is a small but highly active American Kennel Club (AKC) member club with a proud history spanning more than 100 years. While we may be modest in size, we produce a well-respected all-breed dog show and foster a strong, engaged community of dog enthusiasts.

At SJKC, we are united by a shared passion for purebred dogs, responsible ownership, and the ongoing education that supports both.

Who We Are

SJKC is a collaborative group where every member has a voice. Ideas are welcomed, discussed thoughtfully, and decisions are made together in a respectful and efficient environment.

Our members bring a wide range of experience—from long-time breeders and exhibitors to those newer to the world of purebred dogs. What connects us is a genuine love of dogs and a commitment to doing what is best for them.

What Makes SJKC Different
What sets SJKC apart is our culture. We are:

-
Welcoming and inclusive – New members are encouraged to participate and contribute
-
Collaborative – Decisions are made through open discussion and shared ideas
-
Passionate – Our volunteers are deeply committed to dogs and the sport
-
Focused on quality – From our meetings to our events, we strive to do things well

A Commitment to Education

Education is the backbone of responsible dog ownership, and it is one of the most important services SJKC provides to both its members and the public.

Our Health Committee is led by co-chairs from diverse backgrounds, bringing a unique depth of perspective to the program. Together, they offer decades of experience in dog handling, training, and care, along with expertise in scientific, educational, and creative disciplines.

This well-rounded approach allows SJKC to deliver meaningful, practical education that benefits dogs and their owners alike.

A Legacy of Over 100 Years
Over 100 Years of Dedication to Purebred Dogs

For more than a century, the San Joaquin Kennel Club has hosted a respected all-breed dog show. This long-standing tradition reflects our commitment to excellence and our dedication to the sport of purebred dogs.

Our show is a point of pride—not only for our members, but for the broader dog community we serve.
